Verified Good Lunchtime Meal Out. We want to meet with a friend - somewhere around halfway between his house and ours. After looking at maps, we found this place and were glad we did. Friendly staff and good food. Kids played pool while we chatted and dog friendly too. Food prices were reasonable, was a good portion and came in a good time. Easy to find and has a car park across the road. Pie with chips or mash, with seasonal vegetables. We even managed to sneak in a home-made dessert (sponge and custard and lemon meringue). The landlord was a really nice guy and we felt welcome by all the locals. The food was good and beer too. We had our old dog with us and he got spoilt. Later there was a live band on and the pub was buzzing. The Specials of Pork Chops were cooked to perfection which matched the lovely soft mash and veg. Sis had the Gammon with Pineapple and Egg whilst Mum went for the Fish with shared Chips with Sis. Portion sizes where, for me, on the large size, which is why I felt guilty leaving some when it was so nice! Pudding time - Waitress came over and asked if we had room for a pudding. So tasty … best home made chips for miles!! Very generous portions … more often than not we’re apologising for not clearing our plates, only because we couldn’t eat it all, no other reason! Great place and have been many times for a ride out on a Sunday. Usually book to make sure we can get a table as it usually busy and not a massive restaurant area. Menu is on a blackboard and not extensive but enough choices for us. All meals are the same prices as are the puddings. Good quality food and always plenty of it. Normally bring a box back of vegetables and potatoes home which is a bonus. Staff very friendly and helpful and the landlord usually comes and says hello. I had the sirloin steak which in my opinion was the best I'd ever eaten, it was cooked exactly how I wanted it done. We all had a starter and a main, the meals were all served promptly by the manager and bar staff, we all really enjoyed all our meals.
